Revitalizácia obytnej budovy Stufenhochhaus

anotace	The paper deals with the problematic of modern architecture. It provides a preview of the monument protection and sustainability of the architecture ofthe 20th century. Wolfsburg is young city, which has been since its inception linked with modern architecture. The evidence are numerous buildings designed by the leading architects of the Modern Movement like Hans Sharoun or Alvar Aalto. Life in the city closely connected to the production of cars in the Volkswagen Company is strongly based on the car traffic and functional segregation. These circumstances let to the creation of satellite-towns (housing estates). The work focuses on the single building of terraced apartment building “Stufenhochhaus“. The aim of this work is to find the most appropriate form of restoration of this iconic building, to preserve the values and in the same time to adapt it to the present conditions. On the example of the case study represented by this work the paper presents the possible methods and approaches to the problematic of modernism.
