anotace A quest for an architecture of change is a reflection of the world we live in. A rapidly changing socio-economic, cultural, and technological environment demands buildings and spaces that can adapt quickly. Namely our own homes, office spaces, classrooms etc. There is a necessity to embed robotic building components in the built environment in order to address contemporary needs for reconfiguration and demand-driven production. These components are able to animate (actuated, sentient) architectural environments, human needs and requirements for responsive and adaptive reconfiguration of the living space, while keeping interactive relation with the surroundings. This year research is based on a project called Roamniture which is also awarded SGS grant project for 2017/18 and is in current development for making physical prototype. Current research initiatives are in analysing the type of material which could be used in designing such a piece, most probably a combination of soft robotics and rigid material elements. Several testing prototypes were made in order to test possible types of structures and integration of innovative technologies. Roamniture explores possibilities to improve efficiency of space use through spatial reconfiguration and adaptability to different timeframes. Currently under testing is a kinetic structure that could be able to move and transform its shape solely based on pneumatics and integrated pouch motors that could act like “body” muscles, being equipped with sensors and actuators thus able to sense and react on humans and the environment the furniture has been put in.
